Just a peek...

We are making progress on the moving front. The key is figuring out what you are good at and then divvying up the work. Dustin is good at taking Ikea furniture apart and then putting it back together again. He carries a drill around and takes things out of walls and then puts them back into new walls. He will wake up at 7 am and then work steadily until midnight, without complaint.

I am good at taking things out of boxes and organizing them neatly in their new homes. I work furiously for awhile and then I have a tendency to sneak into other rooms and fall asleep for a few hours. I don't even need a bed - give me a blanket and a relatively clear corner and I can nap. I call this "pacing myself" which sounds much nicer than "being lazy."

We are both really good at eating pizza. I can't even tell you how much pizza we've eaten over the last few days, because frankly it's embarrassing. We eat it cold, out of the box.

I can't wait to share pictures of the new place, once it isn't just a sea of boxes. In the meantime, I have nothing for you. No food is being produced, no clever projects are being made. It's all boxes, all the time. Give me a couple days.

  1. ha! you sound like a perfect match. I unpack quite the same way...those little snoozes are good for the energy ;-) But seriously- taking breaks is the only way I get through tasks like that. Helps keep things in perspective. Can't wait to see pics of the new home!

  3. We move often enough... 11 times in 23 years. I spend 4-5 days unpacking and organizing. Once unpacked living life is so much sweeter.

  5. Divide. And. Conquer.

And everyone knows that the *real* reason for moving is to eat as much pizza as is humanly possible. Sounds like you're doing it right.

  10. Hahahaha, I *love* this. I am definitely a burst-of-activity/nap-type of productivity person :) -- and it sounds like *both* of you are getting stuff done, so that's super rock :)! And hey, pizza's not so bad, you get all 4 food groups, right ;)? Good luck, and hooray for y'all for getting all settled in sooner, rather than later!!

  11. I am in the process of moving (very little by very little), but after the wedding, it'll get crazy. I'm really going to take your advice about divvying up the work and doing what you're good at. Thanks!

You're place is gonna look great.

  12. I can relate on so many levels! The gift of falling asleep anywhere like a cat (it truly is a gift....), eating pizza while moving: cold and hot. Pizza is good no matter what. The sea of boxes will slowly dissipate, keep "pacing yourself"
